A Blog for Hopeless Job Seekers

Do you consider yourself as an applicant? a job seeker? What does an applicant literally mean. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, ap·pli·cant: a person who makes a formal application for something, especially a job.

Nowadays, we are craving for something for which will help to sustain our basic needs. This includes are basic necessities like (food, shelter, clothing, air and water). Abraham Maslow, a proponent of Hollistic - Dynamic Theory states that our needs must be satisfied before individuals can attend to needs in higher level. Primarily, we are motivated based on our needs.

As a Filipino citizen, we are well - known with the phrase “Para kanino ka bumabangon?” And the common answers from this question is to sustain the needs of my family, to provide them a better future, to finish my degree and so on.

This blog is dedicated to those applicants whom continuously degrading and considering themselves as a failure one.

There are 104. 9 million population in the Philippines, blessed that you still have a chance to continue your main purpose in life. Rick Warren, a writer of Purpose Driven life quoted that “The Greatest tragedy is not death, but life without a purpose.”, as we take a look from the things we do not succeed, remember that it has a purpose. A purpose that brings you hope and faith for you to keep going.

As a Psychology Major, I consider myself as an individual that suffers the most. Yes, you read it right! The word “most” for me means that I always experience unending sufferings. There are times that I feel depressed, crying every night and began to loose my weight. I feel that I am not enough for those organizations I wished for.

My story began when I got rejected from the very first time I invited for a job interview. Unknown number sent me a message indicates her name, the list of requirements, and also the exact location of the office. I was happy! Yes! Because I feel like out of 100 applicants she screened I belong with it. This is now the beginning for my future plans might come along my way. I prepared for the said interview. Do background research for the company and as well as the read some tips on how to pass the job assessment and interview. To make the story short, I wasn’t able to continue the final interview because the Human Resource practitioner who interviewed me seems that I am not capable to handle the job because I have no experience with that. Aside from this my educational attainment is not enough even if with this experience, I strive to become a motivated individual. I never gave up. One day, one opportunity knocks my door. I was accidentally went to a mall with nothing. I have heard some people at Mcdonald’s talking about the career they want to pursue. The woman said, she will find the easy job first before she pursue her passion. Her friend shared that she already knew where to find the job vacancy, or the “easy job” rather. I followed the path, for me to know the story behind the job vacancy. I asked the guard on duty until when they will be accepting applicants? She answered “We are always hiring, ma’am.” I looked at her eyes with a fascinating smile. With that experience, I was able to continue my journey because of unexpected blessing.

The blog wants you to know that….

Mental health issues have been always hanging over and the struggles constantly afflicts everyday since then. The struggle is constant. It makes me tired and gives me a reason to give up. To die literally. But see how faith works? We are often in a hurry when God isn’t. You may feel frustrated with the seemingly slow progress you’re making in life. Remember that God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. He will use your entire lifetime to prepare you for your role in eternity. I know how it feels to become rejected by someone. It could be family, friends or other people we may encounter. It has valuable things that which are not determined for who you are. You are gifted and talented, maybe he has something bigger to offer you based on your capacities and abilities. You are UNIQUE, always remember that. Everyone of us shaped by circumstances in which we are tempted to express the opposite quality of ourself so there is a bigger version of YOU!

We have fought so many silent battles and I am proud you have conquered it!
