YOUR DREAMS TOWARDS YOUR CAREER
Do you have a dream? What is it? Do you know your purpose in life? Did you sometimes ask this questions to yourself?
All of us has a DREAM and PURPOSE in life. Of course we want first is to graduate from school to get a job that fits to us so that we can give back the hardships that our parents did just for us to complete our studies and to have an easy life. But we also have our own personal purpose and dreams, just like to become a well-known individual and to be successful in our chosen fields. But of course we can’t make all of that happen without having a plan for our career, because if you don’t know what you want to do, life can bring you opportunities in the future but you didn’t grab or go for it because you’re not ready or you don’t know if it’s really what you want.
What would be your first step on building your career?
First, KNOW WHAT YOU WANT in your career. Employers look for “confident and self-directed” new hires, they want people who know what they want and are willing to work for it.
Second, know your STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES. They are looking for people who knows what they're good at so that the employers will know what can that applicant contribute to the company and at the same time to improve your weaknesses to become your strength. Instead of being arrogant in saying "I'm really good at Excel," you can say "I find Excel as one of my strengths because I enjoy learning it -- and I like to teach my knowledge about it to other people.
Third, BE AMBITIOUS. Being ambitious doesn’t always mean in a bad way. Having ambition means you have the goal of getting better and stronger throughout your life, good employers look for people with ambition, they want to have an employee that has a path in life.
Fourth, BE PROACTIVE. Proactive employees don't wait to be told what to do. They jump into action when they see a way to help. Managers want to hire people who are proactive and has initiative. They don’t want someone that will be a burden to the team and to the company.
Fifth is to WORK WELL ON A TEAM & BE RESPONSIBLE. Having a team work and helping each other makes the team more productive. Managers wants people who are a team player and at the same time responsible for themselves and the situations they're in. Talk about the responsibilities you've taken on in your working life and outside. There's a lot of responsibility in a job like that, including the responsibility for the company’s information. What you know about the process or any information about the company, should just be internal it can’t be leaked outside. Don't ever be embarrassed or shy about sharing your 'non-business' experience. Sometimes those experiences show our character most of all.
And lastly, your PURPOSE on applying in a company. You should find a company that will help you to grow not just an individual but help you develop what the skills you have, and when you develop the skills you share it to anyone who also wants to learn.
As base on my own experience, before applying to any companies I have also doubted myself. I don’t know what purpose or path has given to me, but before entering to this company, having confidence to your self is what most important. And now, I am an employee of Qinjie Manpower Services, and this is my first job. I can say that this field being a Recruitment help me as a person, being a shy person is really hard but I know day by day communicating and dealing with different people and helping people to have a work is what I see to myself. Helping them to have work is like an achievement to me and I know in the future that this path would help me more as an employee.
